How do mosses interact with their environment – and what can we learn from them?

Through Moss-Colored Glasses invites visitors to experience Karlsruhe differently: to listen more carefully, slow down, and learn to see moss. The interactive audiovisual installation opens up a perspective beyond the human. Webcams capture visitors’ movements and translate them into colors that drift across the image. Atmospheric sound conveys the world of mosses: their symbioses, their quiet existence in the in-between.

Tenderness, invisibility, unconditional presence – these are qualities we rarely notice. The work by Desiree Kabis and Eveline Vervliet seeks a visual language to make them tangible. They ask: how do we understand time, growth and community? And what if we saw the world just a little more through moss-colored glasses?
