Kinemathek Karlruhe

The Kinemathek Karlsruhe e.V. (founded in 1974) presents over 100 years of film history up to the present under a variety of aspects – preferably in subtitled original versions and accompanied by detailed publications as well as regular introductions.

In the foyer of the Kinemathek Karlsruhe, where cinema painters used to apply large-scale paintings to advertise the cinema hits of the time, the PhonoLuxMaschine has been located since 2020. Two projectors are synchronized by means of a projection mapping. This allows various light effects to be generated, which also shine through the glass façade of the Kinemathek onto the forecourt in the arcade courtyard.

The PhonoLuxMaschine was supported by the UNESCO City of Media Arts Karlsruhe 2020 project support program for media art
