Open Art Workshop ahead of Media art is here.
Artists Yulia Mashkova and Grisha Mumrikov invite you to collaboratively transform the traces of bureaucracy into the living surface of sculptures. In this workshop, bureaucratic residue becomes material for something new – because what if the papers that so often define us could become something that glows, resonates, and carries our shared touch?
The workshop brings together human exhaustion in the face of bureaucratic processes, material waste, and the fragility of nature. Here, paper is not merely a bureaucratic material; it is also a reminder of the trees from which it was made. The project asks: what connections can we grow, rather than accumulating yet more layers of paper?
Feel free to bring along receipts, forms, letters, copies of applications, or any other documents you no longer need; they will be destroyed. Together, we will tear, shred, soak, and reshape them into papier-mâché. The artists will create the sculptural body; participants are invited to give it a skin – made of paper, gestures, pressure, care, and touch.
When: 6–9.08.2026, daily 12–20:00
Where: V12, Viktoriastraße 12
Everyone is welcome, no prior experience needed!
Participation is free of charge, no registration required. Stay for 10 minutes or 3 hours — you decide how long you’d like to take part.
All necessary materials are provided, and all personal data will be fully destroyed and rendered illegible during the process.
The sculptures created in the workshop will be on display from 13 August to 13 September 2026 during Media art is here in the garden of the Prinz-Max-Palais.
