The sea of over 50,000 individually controllable pixels, distributed across 16 LED panels under the roof of the Kinemathek Karlsruhe, suggests that a unique opportunity for media art in public space has been opened up here. The interactive light installation Natural Flow was explicitly designed for this purpose: “I imagined waves consisting of countless particles. These waves are metaphorical representations of nature and ecosystems. The interactive nature of this work allows the viewer to influence the direction of the waves through their presence. In my work, I visually represent the phenomenon of human impact on nature.” – Jihye Jang

In her work, the artist visualises phenomena influenced by humans, just as the flow of water in nature can vary due to the terrain, gravity, wind or other factors. The work encourages participants to question the impact of human influence on the environment and ecosystems.

Shown at Media art is here (2024).
