Johanna Wagner received the cultural scholarship from the city of Karlsruhe in 2020. The starting point of her work is usually the human body – often in dialogue with different materials. The theme of Wagner’s exhibition is the garden, which she came to artistically during the first coronavirus lockdown. In addition to many photos taken in a garden, there are sculptures of stylised microbe heads in the centre of the room. These are equipped with loudspeakers that are triggered by a motion detector.
