From 13.08. to 13.09.2026, Karlsruhe once again becomes a platform for contemporary media art. The exhibition Media art is here brings fifteen artistic works directly into public space. In parallel and in collaboration with the SCHLOSSLICHTSPIELE Light Festival, international and local artistic positions reveal new connections between urban space, nature, and social togetherness.
Those who do not wish to explore the works on their own can take part in free guided tours in German:
The bike tours allow many of the works to be discovered together, accompanied by background information on how the projects came about. One highlight is the visit to the SCHLOSSLICHTSPIELE Light Festival in front of the palace, where on-site staff provides insights into the festival’s technical and organizational background.
New in 2026 is the Media Art Lunch Break: a short, free walk—one that can easily fit into a lunch break—during which selected works are presented.
The bike tours take place every Thursday: 20. and 27.08. at 7 p.m., and on 03. and 10.09. at 6 p.m., each lasting about 90 minutes.
The Media Art Lunch Break also takes place on Thursdays—on 27.08., 03. and 10.09. each at 12:30 pm on foot, lasting 45 minutes.
