Digital Hub für Angewandte KI

Karlsruhe was awarded the title of “Digital Hub for Applied Artificial Intelligence” by the German Federal Ministry of Economics and Energy (BMWi) in 2017. Since then, the Karlsruhe hub has been networking start-ups, small- and medium-sized enterprises, large corporations, research institutions and investors.

Karlsruhe stands out for an IT and AI landscape that is unique in Europe. Renowned research institutions such as the KIT, the FZI, the Hochschule für Technik und Wirtschaft, the Duale Hochschule Baden-Württemberg as well as the Fraunhofer IOSB are all located here in close quarters. The digital sector is likewise strongly represented, with over 4,400 companies and their roughly 30,000 employees offering digital solutions and services. Many of these companies are members of CyberForum e.V., the region’s largest high-tech entrepreneur network in Europe.

The Digital Hub for Applied KI draws on this matured infrastructure as well as on diverse activities and competencies and unites them in a single, open network. The hub is coordinated by DIZ | Digitales Innovationszentrum with its 20 partners from science and industry.
