The UNESCO Creative Cities of Media Arts Karlsruhe and Modena invite you to join CULT, a unique international exchange project co-funded by the European Union. The CULT project promotes the link between cultural heritage and media arts in the context of sustainable development. This project, which will take place from October 2024 to September 2025, aims to deepen intercultural dialogue on Europe’s cultural heritage and use media art as a tool for sustainable European identity. Citizens, artists and young creatives from both cities can apply until November 15, 2024.
Karlsruhe and Modena are part of the UNESCO Creative Cities of Media Arts, a network of cities characterised by outstanding contributions in the fields of media arts and digital innovation. This network promotes exchange and cooperation and supports the Creative Cities in mobilising cultural resources to promote cultural diversity and sustainable development.
Objectives of the project
The CULT project aims to define two city tours on the theme of culture and media art and to promote the direct participation of the citizens of Modena and Karlsruhe in democratic and cultural life. Participating Karlsruhe institutions include: ausgeschlachtet e.V., Badisches Staatstheater, COLA TAXI OKAY, Kinemathek Karlsruhe, KIT – Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, KTG Karlsruhe Tourismus GmbH, OK Lab Karlsruhe, Stadtbibliothek, Stadtplanungsamt, stja Stadtjugendausschuss e.V. Karlsruhe, Stabsstelle Außenbeziehungen und Strategisches Marketing (SAM), ZKM I Centre for Art and Media.
Focus on cultural exchange
The exchange programme offers 50 selected participants the opportunity to take part in two three-day visits – one in their home city and one in the partner city. These trips include visits to important cultural and media arts institutions as well as participation in workshops and discussion panels. All travel and accommodation costs will be covered. Participants will experience the cultural highlights of both cities and actively participate in the development of new cultural projects and sustainable initiatives.
Application
