In a continuous water cycle, the textile canopy of a bed wrings itself out – water drips into a basin at the centre of the mattress, slowly fills again, and begins once more. From this interplay of tension and release emerge soft, rhythmic sounds: murmurs and submerged thoughts rising to the surface.
Memoraque continues the international collaboration “Cali to Karlsruhe” by Lehel Lajos and Daniela Vargas. The bed – a divided object in No Longer Not Yet (2025), caught between holding on and letting go – becomes here a threshold. Water is now the messenger: connecting the technical with the organic, the bodily with the elusive.
Usually a place of rest, the bed becomes a site of constant, gentle movement, a state between waking and dreaming. The water reminds us that even awake, we are still dreaming.
