For the 33rd time, PRIDE PICTURES transforms Karlsruhe into a space for queer stories, perspectives, and encounters.

From October 17 to 25, 2026, the festival presents a carefully curated program of over 20 current feature films and documentaries, alongside three short film programs with a total of 22 short films. New this year: DIE BOX, an intimate 36-seat venue for bold and experimental film discoveries.

Things kick off with a lively Pre-Opening Party on October 17, starting at 10 pm at the Alte Hackerei. The official opening ceremony follows on October 18 at the Kinemathek: with a champagne reception, a concert by this year’s patron Faravaz Farvardin, and the opening film JIMPA by Sophie Hyde.

A highlight of the accompanying program is the panel discussion “We Are Family – Queer Family Images in Society, Film, and Theatre” on October 21 at the Junges Staatstheater in der Insel. The ZKM also invites visitors to queer-themed tours of its media art collection as part of PRIDE PERSPECTIVES.

At the heart of the festival is the presentation of the PRIDE PICTURES PRISM, awarded for the third time in 2026 and endowed with 1,000 euros by the UNESCO City of Media Arts Karlsruhe. This award for the best queer short film will be presented on October 25 as part of the closing event at the Kinemathek.
