A play like a lonely evening on your smartphone.

In a contemporary production of Digitaltheater, Goethe’s ballad Der Zauberlehrling meets current questions about artificial intelligence and technical control. The world premiere will take place on June 6, 2025 in the Studio of the Staatstheater Karlsruhe.

In the theatre play, the audience takes over the complicity live in the auditorium and creates a different reality every evening.

The media artwork by the Karlsruhe artist collective VOLNA transforms the new entrance at the Badisches Staatstheater Karlsruhe into a portal to a virtual world before each performance beginning November 9th and continuing for the rest of the 2024/2025 season.
