The SurrealLabor collective – consisting of Julia Ihls, Andreas Hölldorfer and Marius Probst – researches and works in the fields of art, bio-design and digital media. By questioning what visions a society of the future may produce, the trio simultaneously challenges the boundaries of the status quo through artistic and spatial interventions.
Julia Ihls is an interdisciplinary researcher and designer at the intersection of (natural) philosophy, media theory and spatial design. She completed her studies in art and media studies (M.A.) and scenography/media art (Dipl.). Since April 2021, she has been head of the Bio Design Lab at the HfG Karlsruhe, where – in addition to teaching and curating – she researches new (bio) materials and convivialism.
Andreas Hölldorfer studied electrical engineering and information technology at K.I.T. and works in the field autonomous mobile robotics. He is also a member of die Anstoß e.V. and co-founder of ato.vision.
Marius Probst studied literature, art and media studies at the University of Konstanz. He works as a communicator at the intersection of spatial staging and digital media.
