The research symposium of the Karlsruhe University of Arts and Design (HfG) and the ZKM | Centre for Art and Media Karlsruhe examines how the relationships between art, theory and design can be redefined. The HfG and the ZKM, founded in the 1990s by Heinrich Klotz as research centres for new media, unite university and cultural institution and therefore offer ideal conditions for networking artistic and scientific approaches. However, this requires new framework conditions.
A planned postgraduate programme will bring together interdisciplinary expertise in order to continue the founding idea of the HfG and the ZKM. The programme will respond to current paradigm shifts, which are reflected both in crises of legitimisation and in new, creative forms of knowledge production. The HfG Karlsruhe is taking this as an opportunity to develop hybrid research formats and to question the function of academic doctorates in the field of art.
Registration open until Friday, November 15, 2024, by email to shiftingparadigms@hfg-karlsruhe.de.
