Project Funding Program for Media Art

02. March 2026 — 18. May 2026

The application phase for the Project Funding Program for Media Art is now open. Artists, cultural and media practitioners, as well as initiatives and institutions from Baden-Württemberg are invited to submit their project ideas by Monday, 18 May 2026, 1:00 p.m. (CET).

For the seventh time, the City of Karlsruhe’s Department of Cultural Affairs is announcing its project funding program for media art. The focus is on projects specifically developed for public space that achieve high visibility and accessibility for a broad audience. The aim is to enable artistic works that use media-based forms of expression to reflect on current societal issues and enrich the urban environment of Karlsruhe. International exchange, collaborations, and interdisciplinary approaches are expressly encouraged.

The funding program is open to applicants from across Baden-Württemberg. Tandem applications are particularly welcome, bringing together artists from Karlsruhe with artists from other cities in the state. This approach is intended to highlight regional strengths and deepen exchange between different artistic scenes.

A total of 100.000 euros is available for project funding. The selected works will be presented to the public in summer 2027 as part of the exhibition Media art is here.

Applications can only be submitted via the online application form. Please make sure to familiarize yourself with the applicable funding guidelines in advance. If you have any questions, feel free to contact cityofmediaarts@kultur.karlsruhe.de. The guidelines, including FAQs, are available here.
