KIT Science Week 2025: City of the Future

14. October 2025 — 19. October 2025

KIT Science Week enters its third round! From October 14–19 it’s time again to: Join the discussion! Get involved! Explore!

This week is all about the City of the Future. What will the city you want to live in tomorrow look like? The week kicks off with Prof. Dr. Sabine Knierbein, urban researcher at TU Vienna. In her keynote, she will discuss urban communities and why participation and co-creation play a central role.

At KIT Science Week, brilliant minds from research meet curious people of all ages, and science becomes tangible—through workshops, lectures, discussions, and hands-on activities. Whether on-site or online, you can ask questions, join the conversation, and gain exciting insights into the world of research.

Cities are growing, space is becoming scarce, and mobility and energy are changing. Already, more than half of the world’s population lives in cities—and the number is rising. To ensure cities remain livable in the future, fresh ideas are needed: for sustainable architecture, smart mobility, intelligent urban planning, and fair coexistence. How can cities remain livable, sustainable, and fair for everyone? During KIT Science Week, researchers from various fields will show how this can succeed—from architecture to digital democracy—innovatively, diversely, and closely connected to our everyday lives.
