The Science Office (Wissenschaftsbüro) of the City of Karlsruhe works at the interface between science and urban society and promotes dialogue through events.
It cooperates with research institutions, universities, the media, cultural institutions, representatives of industry and the City’s association of student affairs.
Its main tasks are to stimulate an innovation-friendly climate in the city. In addition to establishing a point of contact for cross-sector cooperation, this organizational unit brings together science marketing and science communication measures in order to provide targeted support for the design of a science city. Various formats, such as the science festival Effekte, aim towards more convergence of the fields of science, business, culture and the arts. Events in the fields of performance art and artificial intelligence, virtual reality and real-time film performances enable new forms of collaboration. The karlsruhe.digital initiative also has close links to media art, insofar as markets Karlsruhe as an attractive location for IT and builds and maintains close partnerships within its network.
