The 26th Karlsruhe International Film Festival is seeking films for the festival, which will take place from April 14 to 18, 2027. Starting now, independent filmmakers, film students, film schools, emerging talents, and production companies can submit their latest works for the 26th festival.
For over 25 years, INDEPENDENT DAYS has been one of the most important platforms for independent filmmaking in Europe. Each year, the festival presents short films, feature films, documentaries, animated films, experimental films, and genre productions from around the world. Mid-length films with a runtime of 30 to 70 minutes are also being sought. This offers filmmakers the opportunity to present their works to an international audience and industry professionals.
INDEPENDENT DAYS is a member of the European Festivals Association and has held the EFFE Label (Europe for Festivals, Festivals for Europe) since 2017, which stands for outstanding artistic quality and international significance. In addition, the festival is listed as an IMDb Award-Listing Qualifying Festival, thereby offering a globally visible platform for independent film productions.
The 2027 edition of the festival is once again expected to feature productions from around the world. The festival sees itself as a meeting place for creative filmmakers from a wide variety of backgrounds and experience levels—ranging from early student works to professional independent productions.
In addition to screening films, the festival also focuses on fostering connections within the international film community. Numerous film discussions, masterclasses, workshops, and networking events provide opportunities for exchange among filmmakers, producers, distributors, and the audience.
In 2027, INDEPENDENT DAYS will once again award numerous prizes totaling 15,000 euros, including the UNESCO Creative City of Media Arts Film Award for the best experimental short film.
