IRIS-A-MAZ, Iris Holstein and Matthias Hederer met in 2000 at the Karlsruhe University of Arts and Design and, inspired by their professor Ulay’s collaboration with Marina Abramović, decided to work together as a duo.
Since 2001, they have been combining their specialisms in scenography and media art, producing performances, video installations and stage designs under the name IRIS-A-MAZ.
They have been living and working in Hamburg since 2008.
