On Saturday, August 2, 2025, the 26th Karlsruhe Museum Night (KAMUNA) will take place under the motto Knowledge Creates Diversity – a night full of culture, innovation, and art. Twenty-one cultural institutions in Karlsruhe will open their doors and offer over 240 events, including numerous highlights from the field of media art.
KAMUNA is an annual cultural event during which many museums and cultural venues in Karlsruhe open their doors to the public. This year, 21 institutions are participating, offering a diverse program for all age groups.
In the field of media art, the ZKM | Center for Art and Media will present the exhibition 200 Years of KIT. 100 Objects. Parts of a Whole in cooperation with the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT). A special highlight is the interactive MIS-Trainer – a realistic simulation system for minimally invasive surgery that invites visitors to try it out. In the workshop Reinvent Yourself – As an Action Figure!, guests can create their own fantasy figures using generative AI. In addition, the award-winning work le taxi pour l’avenir heureux by Benjamin Jantzen – recipient of the dm-Award connecting worlds – is already on display at the ZKM, offering an impressive preview of his contribution to the Schlosslichtspiele. The project addresses the 17 Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations and will also be showcased starting August 14 at Schlossplatz, the Tourist Information Center, and the dm store at Europaplatz as part of the exhibition Media art is here.
The Karlsruhe University of Arts and Design (HfG) is also taking part in KAMUNA, presenting current works by students from various disciplines, including exhibition design, scenography, communication design, art studies, media art, and product design. Visitors can gain insights into creative projects and experience the diversity of the HfG in its open atriums.
