The application phase for the Project Funding Program for Media Art is now open! Artists, cultural and media professionals, as well as initiatives and institutions from Baden-Württemberg are invited to submit their projects by May 15, 2025.
For the sixth time, the Department of Cultural Affairs of the City of Karlsruhe is offering funding for media art projects specifically designed for public spaces, ensuring high visibility for the general public. The goal is to support artistic projects that use the possibilities of media art to offer new perspectives on contemporary social issues, enriching the field of media art—particularly for viewers and participants in the city. International exchange, collaboration, and interdisciplinarity are also key focuses of this call for proposals.
The funding is aimed at artists, cultural and media professionals, as well as initiatives and institutions from Baden-Württemberg. Tandem applications from artists based in Karlsruhe in collaboration with artists from other cities in Baden-Württemberg are particularly welcome. The goal is to promote artistic diversity, strengthen the regional creative scene, and foster exchange between different artistic communities.
A total of €100,000 in funding is available. The selected projects will be presented in the summer of 2026 as part of the exhibition Media art is here.
The application deadline is Thursday, May 15, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. CET.
Applications can only be submitted via the online application form. Please review the current call for proposals and guidelines before submitting your application. The guidelines, including FAQs, are available here.
