The Ideal Spaces Foundation, a non-profit organisation with a focus on architecture, community and ideal spaces, is engaged in research into cultural, historical and utopian concepts. The aim is to develop new approaches to the design of living spaces that promote identity, a sense of belonging and community. Inspired by the model of the European city, the foundation focuses on the combination of architecture, cultural memory and democratic co-design in order to create spaces that go beyond simple functionality.
An essential part of the foundation’s work is the publication of specialised literature. Titles such as Cosmos, Ideal Spaces, Gestalt & Form, Columns & Capitals and Tree of Life have already been published. These books, which are available in German and English from Jeff Klotz Verlagshaus, shed light on central themes of the foundation and its exploration of the relationship between space and community.
Two new works will be published at the end of the year: Virtual Worlds as Gardens and Pearls. Virtual Worlds as Gardens deals with the depiction of artificial paradises and the unity of image and text in order to illustrate the concept of the lost paradise as an ideal space. Pearls is dedicated to the aesthetics and symbolic meaning of pearls as timeless objects.
From the beginning of January, the Foundation will launch a new sales website where all publications will be conveniently available online. With this initiative, the Foundation aims to facilitate access to its work and make its research and concepts available to a wider audience.
Further information can be found on the foundation’s website.
