The film idea Alive Building by Salome Vepkhvadze convinced the jury of the Media Arts Film Scholarship in 2023. The scholarship, which has already been awarded four times since 2021, offers independent filmmakers without great financial opportunities a production option for a low-budget project worth 3,000 Euro.
After its premiere at the INDEPENDENT DAYS | Karlsruhe International Film Festival, Alive Building had a very successful run at international festivals. It won the Best Experimental Award at the Monza Film Fest and the Best Experimental Short at the Nawada International Film Festival in India. Vepkhvadze’s film also received an Honorable Mention for Best Short Film at the Eastern Europe Film Festival and was a finalist at the Istanbul International Architecture and Urban Films Festival.
The winners of the four editions can be viewed here. The 2024 award-winning film idea, which is currently in production, will celebrate its premiere at the Schauburg in April 2025.
