In June, the ZKM | Karlsruhe will once again open its doors for an extraordinary gathering of up-and-coming talents and experienced experts from the world of electronic music. Over four days, hundreds of students and teachers from all over Europe will gather to present their latest musical creations and discuss the future of this art form.
The international ZKM festival of university studios for electronic music, known as next_generation X, promises a fascinating journey through the world of acoustic innovation. With a diverse programme ranging from fixed media to spatial sounds and live electronics, the festival offers a unique insight into the creative diversity of young composers. This event, which is already celebrating its tenth anniversary, has deliberately dispensed with an overarching theme in order to create space for a wide range of artistic forms of expression.
Students from 27 different universities in Germany, Austria, France, the Netherlands, Italy and Switzerland will present their work from June 5 to 8, exploring themes ranging from political relevance and ecological concerns to personal reflections in their compositions. Each piece is not only an artistic work, but also a dialogue between man and technology that explores the limits of what is possible.
Participation in next_generation X is free of charge for all interested parties and thus enables open access to a world full of audio discoveries and inspiring discussions.
