KME Karlsruhe Marketing und Event GmbH has expertise in planning and running major so-called emotional events with the main task of strengthening Karlsruhe’s profile as a city.
Alongside regular major events such as DAS FEST, India Summer Days, Schlosslichtspiele Karlsruhe, Stadtwerke Eiszeit, Fest der Sinne, Stadtfest, and Indoor Meeting Karlsruhe, KME organizes special events such as Heimattage Baden-Württemberg 2017 and VerfassungsFEST 2019 and is involved in organizing the World Council of Churches Assembly in Karlsruhe in 2021.
It also supports projects in public spaces such as »Die Stadt ist der Star« in 2015 and »Digitale Wasserspiele« in 2016. Operational marketing measures, branding campaigns, cooperative marketing to strengthen Karlsruhe City and the Karlsruhe volunteer program complement the extensive portfolio of Karlsruhe Marketing und Event GmbH.
KME is the organizer of SCHLOSSLICHTSPIELE Karlsruhe, which are curated by Peter Weibel, artistic and scientific director of the ZKM. In summer, the SCHLOSSLICHTSPIELE transform the center of the city, Karlsruhe’s baroque palace, into a canvas for one of the largest digital artworks in Europe. Since its premiere to mark the city’s 300th anniversary in 2015, the projection mapping festival has contributed significantly to showcasing the city locally, nationally and internationally as a center of media art.
