The Institute for Information Management in Engineering (IMI) at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) is involved in research and development in the fields of virtual, augmented and mixed reality (VR/AR/MR). The Institute’s »Industry 4.0 Collaboration Lab« is a teaching, demonstration and research space where realistic processes and applications can be simulated.
IMI’s advisory board functions as an interface between scientific visualization and digital media communication (e.g., VR, AR, MR). In terms of content, we would seek to establish a logical connection between our expertise and other organizations taking part in the UNESCO Creative City of Media Arts program. To do so efficiently, we will refit our VR lab, set up the foundation »Digitalisierung, Bildung und Qualifikation« (Digitization, Education and Qualification) and become active in the Digital Life Design (DLD) »Digital Twin« network all by the end of this year. The focus will be on the use of digital media for education and qualification purposes.
