Autumn 2021

As part of the Independent Days | Karlsruhe International Film Festival, the UNESCO Creative City of Media Arts announces the UNESCO Creative City of Media Arts Underground Film Award for the best experimental short film in Fall 2020. Both the presentation of the award and the premiere of the winning short film will take place in Fall 2021 during the Film Festival. Renowned institutions and media artists from other UNESCO Creative Cities of Media Arts are invited to address current pressing social issues in 30-minute short films. The award fund will support the production of further experimental films, which will be developed in collaboration with actors and actresses of the filmboard Karlsruhe e.V. and screened as an international network project within the framework of the City of Media Arts.
