The interactive installation ACCESS deals playfully with the topic of surveillance and control. It uses various tracking technologies and makes them acoustically and visually perceptible as both an individual and a public experience. The light cone of a spotlight automatically follows randomly selected, anonymous people. A directional loudspeaker emits sounds and noises that you can only hear if you are the person standing in the spotlight. There is no reason why the spotlight tracks you in particular, nor why you are the only person in public who hears the sounds. The work points up the importance of surveillance and locality in digitized societies. By putting passersby in the limelight for a brief time, ACCESS also draws attention to the importance of self-representation in today's world, which has become a socioeconomic constraint within social media.
