Stadtleuchten – Light Art Festival Karlsruhe
Media art in shop windows connects city center and the digital edition of SCHLOSSLICHTSPIELE Karlsruhe
Parallel to the digital edition of SCHLOSSLICHTSPIELE, which can currently be seen every evening in virtual space, numerous shop windows in Karlsruhe became a glowing open-air gallery. "Stadtleuchten" presents selected works by local and national light and media artists free of charge in the UNESCO City of Media Arts Karlsruhe until September 13 and creates another cultural highlight in #SommerinKarlsruhe.
Fascinating compositions of light and fog, video projections or fluorescent acrylic objects - using a variety of techniques and materials, the artists create impressive works that invite you to linger and reflect. Many of the works are already very beautiful to look at in daylight, others only develop their full luminous effect after nightfall.
The works of art can be seen around the clock - the exact locations can be found at www.karlsruhe-erleben.de/stadtleuchten.
"Stadtleuchten" is a cooperative marketing project consisting of the city marketing of KME, the City Initiative Karlsruhe and KASIG. "Stadtleuchten" connects Karlsruhe's city center with the SCHLOSSLICHTSPIELE, which take place in virtual space this summer, and makes media art visible and tangible throughout the city. With this exhibition, the UNESCO City of Media Arts Karlsruhe offers light and media artists a platform for their art and perspectives for their work even in difficult times. The title "Stadtleuchten" (City Lights) refers to the project of the same name for the 300th city anniversary KA300 in summer 2015.
