art KARLSRUHE – Art from over the last 120 years

The art KARLSRUHE trade fair offers its approximately 150,000 visitors a wide collection of exhibits, from the classic modern era of art to contemporary artworks. More than 200 international galleries present their programs, flanked by a diverse supporting program, and there are special exhibitions, too.

Embedded in the state of Baden-Württemberg, a dense cultural landscape which is renowned for its colllectors and important private collections such as Grässlin (St. Georgen), Schaufler (Sindelfingen), Hoppe-Ritter (Waldenbuch), the Würth Museum (Schwäbisch Hall amongst others), and the Frieder Burda Foundation (Baden-Baden), the trade fair has established itself as a fixed event in the calendar of international trade fairs.

The 17thart KARLSRUHE (February 13 – 16, 2020) will again present art from the last 120 years. The advisory committee selected 210 both nationally and internationally renowned galleries from 15 countries, which with their exhibition programs facilitate a dialogue between the classic modern era and contemporary art. Trademarks of this fair are the around 20 locations presenting sculptures, which are integrated into the halls. Several solo shows that focus on the artistic work of individual artists round off the trade fair. The accompanying program includes special exhibitions, award ceremonies, the two-day symposium ARTIMA art meeting, plus other events which will take place in the cultural landscape of Karlsruhe.

Following the special exhibitions in recent years of private collections – Würth (2017), Frieder Burda (2018), and Peter C. Ruppert (2019) – in 2020 there will be a presentation specifically devoted to graphic art prints: the collection of the HPH Foundation – serigraphs by great masters, from Ackermann to Vasarely. The exhibition will feature around 100 works by internationally successful artists.
