In the context of the ZKM exhibition Critical Zones a free workshop with a maximum of ten participants will take place over the space of several months. The art mediator, performer, and art theorist Mira Hirtz uses unconventional methods to experience art with visitors in an experimental way. During the workshop, the themes of art, ecology, the Anthropocene, and concepts of the exhibition, such as the “terrestrial”, will be explored. The experiment takes a performative perspective, with the aim of understanding these themes and concepts as so-called “scores” or instructions for movement. Thus, the project is based on the idea that the body can respond to mental questions, albeit in perhaps unexpected ways. The workshops will start in mid-September 2020 with three digital and six analog sessions. The results of the workshop on this range of topics will be published on the ZKM website.
The workshop How to be terrestrial? is supported by the UNESCO City of Media Arts Karlsruhe 2020 project funding program for media art.
