The Silent Chaos of Colors, 2020

The Silent Chaos of Colors is an interactive video projection that utilizes the effect of excessive irritation through colors. Instead of physical color pigments being thrown in the air, as associated at the Holi Festival in India, the projection triggers the creation of digital color particles. In the shop window, where the work is installed, the silhouettes of the viewers are depicted in the projection as color pigments. Through the use of one’s own body, individually or in groups, the work invites the viewer to participate interactively and create color effects in the projection. Viewers’ interactions with the projection are filmed by a webcam and transmitted live to the website www.the-silent-chaos-of-colors.net. Using an Xbox One with a Kinect sensor, up to three people can interact digitally from home with the work.

The Silent Chaos of Colors was supported by the UNESCO City of Media Arts Karlsruhe 2020 project support program for media art.
