"Repair the irrigation machine as quickly as possible and in doing so, waste as little water as possible", is the goal of the video game Saving Water, developed by the Karlsruhe-based PONG.Li Studios. This conspicuous crowd game, visible from a long way away — a game for everyone participating — projected onto the facade of the HypoVereinsbank, is a work that draws attention to the issues of sustainability and resource consumption. Using the app, you can manage the construction of a water pipe during the game in an effort to minimize the amount of wasted water. The interactive projection is based on the award-winning facade game Capture the Pyramid, which PONG.Li Studios developed for the first Schlosslichtspiele light show in 2015.
Saving Water was funded within the framework of the UNESCO City of Media Arts Karlsruhe 2020 project support program for media art.
